My life and career have been inspired by the bible verse from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” I am a graduate of University of Maryland Eastern Shore where I received a BS degree in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation I worked for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services as a Human Services worker in the Foster Care Unit. I had a caseload of twenty-four children, half of whom suffered from some type of emotional, physical, and/or learning disability.

It was during my experience as a Human Services worker, God placed it upon my heart to teach. After a few weeks of prayer and contemplation I landed my first job as a seventh grade, Special Education teacher. I also began pursing and ultimately earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from Coppin State University. As a Special Education teacher my favorite subject to instruct is English, where I try to communicate my own love of writing to my students.

As a girl I always had a vivid imagination and loved writing in a journal. I was able to further explore the craft of writing as a student in high school and college, and I received good guidance from my own teachers. Being an avid fiction reader and having a passion for writing for many years, I finally acted upon God’s inspiration and grace to pursue my dream of becoming a novelist.

I began writing Liar, Liar and queried many literary agents to represent the novel for publication. I received several rejection letters. But with the support of family and friends and the strength of God, I pressed on; I knew that all it takes is one “Yes”. Soon I obtained a literary agent eager and willing to represent the manuscript, and was offered a publishing contract by Q-Boro Books shortly after.

My favorite activities are reading, writing, Florida vacations and watching reality television shows and soap operas. I am a member of African American Sisters in Spirit Book Club and Ebony Readers. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently I live in Northern Virginia with my wonderful husband, Reginald and our darling baby girl, Reagan.
